The priest of voodoo Rock ‘n Roll pulls no punches with a straight-for-the-jugular, guitar licked homage to Haiti evoking an Afro-energised Black Keys meets Dr. John. The powerful and original fusion between the Caribbean voodoo melodies and rhythms, and the 70’s US blues-rock; the shock between Moonlight’s powerful and rebellious voice and the tension of saturated guitars ... the voodoo trance in a new and explosive style!

For over 20 years, Macy Gray has gained acclaim globally on the music scene. This R&B, jazz and soul singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and actress, is best known for her distinctive raspy voice, and a singing style heavily influenced by Billie Holiday. With over 25 million record sales worldwide, Gray has been overturning fan expectation and industry formula since kicking off her music career with her debut 1999 CD, On How Life Is. That musical calling card spawned the classic single “I Try,” and both the CD and single were massive global hits which kicked off a streak of success including two Grammys, two MTV awards and a thriving acting career. Her 10th studio LP, Ruby, was released in fall of 2018.

Audiences will feel that too as she brings the record to life nightly in Europe on her 2018 tour. In the end, RUBY represents Macy Gray at her most passionate, poetic, and powerful.

“I hope that I can make them smile and make them reflect. I love when fans reach out with stories of how I’ve inspired, influenced them, or helped them get through a moment in their life. I want them to take away sincerity, honesty and authenticity. I’m hopeful that I am providing them with something that is meaningful and thoughtful. I’m still looking at how I can contribute more artistically and as a human. This is one way.” - Macy Gray.

A gifted songwriter and dazzlingly singular singer, Macy Gray has been overturning fan expectation and industry formula since kicking off her music career with her debut 1999 CD, On How Life Is. That musical calling card spawned the classic single “I Try,” and both the CD and single were massive global hits. They kicked off a career ride that includes two Grammys, two MTV awards, over 15 million units sold, and a thriving acting career.

What awards and sales figures fail to illustrate is the depth and breadth of Macy’s artistry. In an industry that is increasingly stifling of real artists, she’s forged her own vision, creating music that leaps genre barriers from experimental soul to alternative rock, from retro-disco to hip-hop. Her artistic integrity and innovativeness has won her fans across the world, including artists such as John Frusciante, Erykah Badu, Gang Starr, Mos Def, and Pharoah Monche, all of whom have collaborated with her.

From floating in the Dead Sea or better yet touching the Sphinx, standing on Mount Everest, praying with the Monks in India or traveling illegally into Mexico, all manifested not because of what he could pay or because of who he is but because he was seeking the answer to the most critical question that has been asked for centuries by Alchemist, Artist, Magi, Sages and Wizards “ What is truth?” The answer he found “ The truth is the best of what is in me, the best in us all”.

One of the most talked-about rappers of 2008, Jay Electronica built his reputation via the Internet and word of mouth, without so much as a single commercial release to his credit. Born Je’Ri Allah in 1976, he grew up in the Magnolia projects of New Orleans, where he lived until age 19. In the years that followed, he lived a nomadic lifestyle, moving back and forth between Atlanta, New York, Detroit, and Baltimore, among other cities. He adopted the Jay Electronica alias while living in Baltimore circa 2000. While in Detroit, he befriended associates of J Dilla, working closely with engineer Mike “Chav” Chavarria and collaborating with producer Denaun Porter (aka Mr. Porter). As a rapper, he distributed his recordings via the Internet, primarily his MySpace page. Among these Internet-circulated recordings, a few stood out and helped create a buzz: “Act 1,” an epic homemade rap over Jon Brion’s score for the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; “Bitches and Drugs,” a J Dilla production; “Extra Extra,” a Madlib production; and the StyleWars EP. The word of mouth didn’t hurt, either, as Erykah Badu, Just Blaze, Nas, and others spoke highly of Jay Electronica in the media. Moreover, Badu reportedly made him the first signee of her Control FreaQ Records label.

Perhaps best known as the singer of the Hold Steady, Craig Finn is a Minnesota-bred singer, songwriter, and guitarist based out of New York City.

Combining literary influences like Jack Kerouac and John Berryman with the musical influences of Bruce Springsteen and fellow Minnesotan Paul Westerberg, Finn’s highly descriptive lyrical style has a focus on narrative, crafting whole worlds for the people in his songs to exist within.

After five albums with the band, the singer and songwriter tried his hand at a solo album during some downtime from his main project, and in 2012 released Clear Heart Full Eyes through Vagrant Records.

In 2015, Finn dropped his second solo album; Faith in the Future, released by Partisan Records, was drawn from a set of songs inspired by themes of loss and survival that Finn wrote in the wake of his mother’s death. His third record appeared in March 2017.

Craig Finn’s eagerly awaited new album, I Need A New War, arriving Friday, April 26 2019. The third album in a trilogy. I Need A New War once again sees Finn expertly chronicling our complex, often confusing, modern era, drawing deeply felt character studies about regular people trying to respond to extraordinary times, attempting to find connection whilst wondering how to keep pace with a world moving faster than they are. The LP further finds Finn focusing his lens on New York City – his home for the last 18 years.

Craig Finn will play the sugar club on Sunday October 20th with tickets from €25 incl booking fee on sale Wednesday 3rd April at 10am from Ticketmaster
