Konenki - Renewal of life

This is the Japanese definition of what we call Menopause.

There is a damaging stigma surrounding menopause in Western society that plays a role in how we as women value ourselves. It plays a role in how we interpret and experience ageing. Whether it be a lack of focused expertise, media representation, cultural reproach, or general bias, there’s still a dark shadow surrounding menopause.

Konenki will be a unique event, raising the voices of young and older women attempting to lift the sense of shame and the silence around a natural occurrence in life while also exploring the sense of empowerment that menopause can bring.

The night will include a short theatre piece written by Noelle Brown, followed by a sitting room style warm and intimate panel discussion hosted by radio DJ Emma Nolan. Savage tunes to follow provided by DJ Tara Stewart.

Our panel will include:

Esteemed journalist and activist Una Mullally, menopause and life coach Catherine O’Keefe, founder of My Second Spring Aisling Grimley, founder and CEO of The Menopause Hub Loretta Dignam and endocrinologist and leading consultant in hormone therapy, Donal O’Shea.

All proceeds are in aid of The Irish Association for Cancer Research.
